Henigman Secures Planning Consent for St John's Wood Residential Scheme

Developer-investor and LPF Member, Henigman has announced planning consent has been granted for its St. John’s Wood residential scheme. Westminster planners have given the green light for the redevelopment of St. Mark’s Court, a significant residential project within the St. John’s Wood conservation area, facing the iconic Abbey Road with its famous Beatles zebra crossing.

Permission has been granted to create a total of 29 studio to four-bedroom apartments, secure cycle storage, and green landscaping, along with a new entrance for the building on Abbey Road. The plans introduce new additions to the 5th floor and basement level to create duplex apartments with private terraces and courtyards, and a new four-storey rear extension to provide enhanced living spaces.

The consented plans span over 31,505 square feet and were designed by Fathom Architects, with a brief to “retain the existing structure and façades whilst creating an energy efficient building aligned with the Council’s Environmental Supplementary Planning Document.”

The scheme features new energy efficient plant equipment, renewable technology including photovoltaic roof panels, replacement windows, and living roofs to introduce biodiversity, reducing the building’s overall carbon footprint to a minimum.

The scheme incorporates an industry-leading approach to renewable and low carbon energy sources and materials, highlighting Henigman’s key ambition to achieve excellence in the design and delivery of sustainable residential and commercial buildings.
— Dean Main, Henigman founder and CEO
Henigman has worked closely with Fathom Architects, neighbours and local planners to deliver a modern, high-quality scheme in the heart of St. John’s Wood, adding five new homes to the existing 24. The approval of WCC’s planning committee is an endorsement of the robust quality of our proposals.
— Stuart Goulds, Development Director at Henigman
It’s been a pleasure working with Henigman to deliver a substantial retrofit, re-invigorating a tired building, improving its environmental performance and transforming this corner of Abbey Road.
