Watergilders is a luxury surface design studio and an exclusive resource for the ultra luxury market. Our work spans across the private residential market, restaurant and hotel design and superyacht interiors.

Our team of trained artisans produce a wide and ever-developing range of specialist finishes and artwork, using a diverse range of materials including resins, precious metals, natural pigments and minerals.

The studio's output includes extensive use of traditional techniques such as Verre Eglomise – the art of creating gilded designs on glass using precious metals; water gilding on timber; and cracked gesso as a decorative wallpaper amongst others. We are also at the leading edge of innovating contemporary techniques involving resins, liquid metal finishes, moulding, casting and cnc machining to create unique finishes and artwork.

The business finds that the UK's unique position, in having some of the most internationally well-respected, knowledgeable and innovative designers serving a global market-place, provides our studio with an excellent opportunity for supplying projects worldwide. These currently include 137 sq m of Verre Eglomise for 13 lift interiors for a hotel in Doha, watergilded textured ceiling panels for a $100million penthouse in Sydney Australia, plus various superyacht projects with shipyards in the EU.

The business also thrives in the UK's wealth of high-end artisanal makers of furniture and joinery. We adopt a collaborative approach with complementary makers, and find that this enables us to offer a range of options and solutions which go above and beyond expectations.

Whilst Brexit raises concerns from a short term and practical perspective, we trust that the unique finishes supplied by the Studio, combined with strong relationships with design clients, and the pipeline of projects already in place will put us in a strong position to weather any short-term disruptions. Going forward, we believe that British excellence in this market will offer an opportunity for the whole of the UK interiors industry to maintain and strengthen its position at the heart of the global marketplace.
